Dwellings: Ghost Ranch
This house has been here for a hundred years
beneath red rock mesas and runaway stars.
Round as the word "adobe"
it sits heavy and settled
on the same high desert it is made of.
And deep inside this house,
the rooms are as cool as clean sheets -
the thick wood floors
worn smooth and fine
by the fundamental audacity
of people like O’Keeffe.
